The Amazing Spider-Man #252 in context
Why collectors care
The Amazing Spider-Man #252 (1984) is the first appearance of the black costume in the main Spider-Man title, tying into Secret Wars, and carries a homage cover echoing Amazing Fantasy #15. It is a popular Copper Age key.
How to identify it
A 1984 first printing. Confirm the edition; newsstand and direct versions exist, and this ties to Secret Wars #8 for the costume's origin.
Common mistakes
Do not confuse the in-story debut order with Secret Wars #8; collectors track both. Inspect the cover, which shows wear easily.
Grade considerations
High-grade copies with white pages are scarce and the cover shows spine and corner wear readily. Newsstand copies can carry a premium.
