The Amazing Spider-Man #50 in context
Why collectors care
A double key: the first appearance of the Kingpin, cover-dated July 1967, and the issue carrying the famous "Spider-Man No More!" cover -- one of the most homaged images in comics. Wilson Fisk went on to become the central antagonist of both Spider-Man and Daredevil.
How to identify it
Amazing Spider-Man #50, July 1967, 12-cent cover. The cover shows Peter Parker walking away from a trash can holding his costume.
Common mistakes
The cover has been homaged and reprinted so widely that later tribute issues are sometimes mistaken for it. Confirm the 1967 printing and the issue number.
Grade considerations
The stark cover shows spine ticks and edge wear clearly. High-grade copies are scarce given both the age and the character demand.
