The Ho-Oh LEGEND (Top) 111/123 in context
Why collectors care
LEGEND cards are unique in the TCG: each one was printed as TWO separate cards that had to be combined to form a single playable card. Ho-Oh LEGEND is one of the most sought-after of the group, and assembling a matched pair is a genuine collecting challenge.
How to identify it
Number 111/123 from HeartGold & SoulSilver (2010) — this is the TOP half. The bottom half is 112/123, also in this catalog. A complete Ho-Oh LEGEND requires both, and graders slab each half separately.
Common mistakes
Buying one half believing it is the whole card. Listings frequently show the assembled artwork while selling a single half — confirm which number you are getting, and whether a "pair" listing truly includes both.
Grade considerations
Because halves are graded separately, a matched pair in equal high grade is much harder to assemble than a single card. The horizontal cut edge is prone to wear on both pieces.
