The The Brave and the Bold #28 in context
Why collectors care
The first appearance of the Justice League of America, cover-dated March 1960, in the story "Starro the Conqueror." The team's success directly prompted Marvel to create the Fantastic Four, making this arguably the most historically consequential Silver Age DC book.
How to identify it
The Brave and the Bold #28, March 1960, 10-cent cover. The Justice League appears in a try-out run across #28-30 before graduating to its own title.
Common mistakes
Buying Justice League of America #1 (1960) as the first appearance. That is the first solo series, also in this catalog; the team debuts here.
Grade considerations
A 1960 book with a busy, colorful cover that shows wear readily. High-grade copies are scarce and command large premiums given the historical significance.
