The Strange Tales #115 in context
Why collectors care
The origin of Doctor Strange, cover-dated December 1963 — the eight-page story that established how Stephen Strange became Sorcerer Supreme. It is the essential companion to his first appearance in Strange Tales #110, also in this catalog.
How to identify it
Strange Tales #115, December 1963. Doctor Strange had appeared in issues #110, #111 and #114 before this origin story ran.
Common mistakes
Buying #115 believing it is the first appearance (that is #110), or buying #110 expecting the origin. They are different books at different prices, and this one is the cheaper of the two.
Grade considerations
A 1963 anthology with the usual Marvel spine and gloss concerns. High grade is scarce but less punishing in price than #110.
